Hey keith, long time no talk... but i was checking out ur site and was looking at jeffs tahoe and i was wondering if those mounts u made for it rasied the upper control arms and if they did how much? I want to rasie mine 1 inch to get rid of some of my camber... So i was going to see if u could make some mounts like that that would work for my truck. Holla at me and let me know
thanks

Whats up Justin. Yeah man you could def raise them a little. Just be careful. You dont want to throw off the geometry of the suspension to much. We ended up changes Jeffs back and putting the stock mounts back on. I went to a junk yard and had them get me a frame like your truck. I cut off the mounts and basically rewelded them back on. But you could take your new mounts and build a 1 inch spacer. Call me at the shop i should answer. Im usually gone from 12 to 1.
Hit me up and i should be able to explain a little better

just moving the upper arms up will cause bump steer

I felt it on a scary drive home from STC last year.
I'm sure Keith can handle it.

Smileys makes a laser cut upper arm mount that can be trimmed and welded on. the mounting holes are on 6" centers. Its far better to leave the geometry alone and remove the camber with the length of the arms or shims. sometimes that cant be helped tho

You cant just lengthen a arm either that will throw off geometry. your best bet is drop spindles

On many suspension parts when lowering you will find that the upper arm is either too long or too short. You can shorten or lengthen arms a little without negative effects. You can shorten an upper arm about 1/2" and have very little negative effects. Im not talking about taking a couple inches out.
When you find that mounting the upper arm as far out as it will go and it still has negative camber, its far better to shorten the lower arm a bit than to move the mounts or lengthen the upper. you will have better turning when layed out as a result as well.
When you find that the upper arm when spaced all the way in to get the correct amount of camber, has too many spacers you can shorten the upper arm or lengthen the lower depending on the amount of room you have.
On a truck like a Ranger (98 up) you have to deal with the odd spindle and moving the mount or raising it only helps a little. It would be better on that truck to swap to a spindle thats not as tall.
You can also shorten or lengthen both upper and lower arms the same amount in relation to the difference in length and have absolutely no negative effects at all. Its far worse moving the mounting location of arms than it is to change the length.
both moving the mounts and shortening or lengthening are not bad if done in moderation.

Yes drop spindles are the best bet on a lowered truck. so is proper balljoint angles at layed out and raised up.

i love camber... i cut 3 inches outta my upper and added 4 inches on my lower so i can ride on rim!

Rangers only suck to do suspension work on the front. They look very nice layed out.
