I just sent the first rear cover mount watts to BYD rod and custom. Gavin should be installing it on the square body Suburban very soon with pics to follow.

I mocked it up on a 10 bolt rearend I have at the shop. It stick out from the rear cover only 4.5" so realistically you need about 5 inches of clearance to use one. I think this would be great on a Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, Denali etc. Anything with a fuel tank just behind the axle with very little clearance.

This is something I need to work on for Blazers as well. I will start making rear cover pieces for S-10, Ranger, Colorado etc.

look for pics and updates soon.

Mike, I'm gonna post pics tonight. I got it all bolted up and ready to weld the tabs to the frame and the welder was on the other side of the shop so I started working on another part of the burban and never welded the tabs. I've got a.d.d. real bad. I'm gonna get it welded on today.

On a side note I want to do this setup on my dually. Just a 2link with the bolt on wats. Its got a 14 bolt off a cab and chassis so I dont have to narrow it. Let me know what it would take to make that bolt on cover.

I just need the cover so I can make the diagram for the holes and know how far it sticks up. I would need the cover for a day or so. OR you could take a nice clean piece of posterboard and trace the cover holes on it, plus measure how tall the cover is laying flat. Then I can make something on my adjustable jig.

and yes it as bulletproof. made of 1/8" AR500, which stops most handguns

I may be interested in the 14 bolt also and mine is a cab and chassis axle.

I did lots of wrecking yard research yesterday. I wish I had known about the 14 bolt thing I would have snatched up a 14 bolt cover.

I will be working on it

Very nice!

Do you have to worry about breaking bolts off in the pumpkin? I guess theres not that much pressure on them because its for a watts link and not your upper to bars ( like suicide doors makes)

thanks,

the plates are 1/8" armor so they are super strong. Also the next one I make will have oval shaped holes in the plates and the Z shaped center like the other watts links I sell.

The bolts are grade 8 and theres 6 so they should be good to go. it takes alot of weight just to break one.
