I have been rolling this project around for a while. Id like to start on it asap. I can probably have a frame or frame clip at my job and work on it in my spare time.
This would be a conversion where you unbolt the I beam crossmember and bolt in a tube arm crossmember. This would most likely use a Mustang II spindle and probably the same steering. Although it may be possible to use the stock steering box.
Im looking for someone that has an I beam Ranger frame laying around or a front frame clip from one....
The person that comes up with one gets a free setup. By that I mean I will make the crossmember and the arms and all brackets. You would supply the mustang II spindles and steering rack.
thanks and let me know

I'm surprised someone didnt think of this years ago. You are going to make life easier for tons of people.
We're currently bagging an F350 and this would have made the job less of a pain in the ass.
no kidding... don't people usually use a toyota front or something? I've just seen bits and pieces about this

no it has not been done. I had this idea back in 2004 and havent been able to find the time.
its not all that difficult, just engineering time involved

Would a truck thats already bagged do you any good? My truck is just sitting in the garage with no tank and compressor hooked up. If anything, I could put some schrader valves on it to get it wherever.

I really need a truck with no motor or a bare frame.
Im gonna do the workup for mustang II spindles but it may work with newer Ranger crazy spindles, Toyota spindles or something else as well.
Im also going for using this with a mustang II rack but may be able to make it work with the stock steering box.
updates as soon as I have something. not putting it off any longer...

Mike, Danny and I were talkin about this and what will you do about motor mounts? Arent they part of the I beam clip like the chevys? The Dropmember has the bounts built in so would you need a motor for mockup after you build the crossmember?

I will make a jig across the motor mount or where the motor mount holes are in the crossmember and make them in the same place. Im sure theres several holes in the frame for this because of the engine choices.

Bump! Please tell me you haven't abandoned this project. I just started thinking about it again today out of the blue!
